Feb23rd  is the Lantern Festival, but sources from Beijing's major parks say there will be no lantern fair this year.

A principal from Chaoyang Park says it's impossible to hold a Lantern fair so soon after the Spring Festival Fair, which ended on February 15th.

The Ice lantern show in Beihai Park has also been cancelled because the warm winter has increased the costs of staging the event.

Government regulations stipulate that all parks can temporarily raise ticket prices twice a year for special shows.

Many parks choose to do this at Spring Festival and during Golden week, Labor Day and National Day, instead of the Lantern Festival.
