Offices of 25 European countries in Beijing displayed some of the classical elements of the European culture at a folk festival held in the city at weekend. Without going abroad, Beijing residents had a close contact with these colorful cultures near their homes.

The festival was held in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relation between China and the European countries. Artists from 25 European countries performed at the festival, some of the folk art in their country, like the flag skill by Italian artists and brass band performance from Hungary.

To entertain the local audience, the brass band took some traditional, Chinese songs into their performing, which was applauded by people young and old.

In addition to performances, all the 25 European countries also set up exhibition areas to issue some of the publishing materials, which cover information on tourism, education and culture.

These materials were expected to help Beijing people to know more and be more interested in traveling to Europe, as European tourist market in Beijing becomes open and mature. A five-nation tour in Europe, for example, now costs less than 10,000 yuan.

Study in Europe was another hot topic. To allure more Chinese people to study, Germany and France briefed interested students about the famous language teaching institutions in their country.
