Eight wild ducks have nestled together on the frozen surface of the Summer Palace's Kunming Lake.
One of the ducks seemed to suffer from a frostbit leg, and walked with a limp accompanied by his seven mates.
A wildlife expert from the Wildlife Protection Association says that wild ducks migrate to warmer climes come winter. However, if one gets hurt during the journey, others will stay with him.
The wild ducks at the Summer Palace can survive the cold weather, but run the risk of starvation. A grounds keeper said he would feed the eight ducks at regular intervals.
