There are a few good budget restaurants on Lizhengmen Lu, opposite the main entrance to the mountain resort, which are lively on summer evenings, when rickety tables are put on the pavement outside.  Plenty of diners stay on drinking well into the evening.

Imperial cuisine in an attractive environment, with exotica such as Pingquan frozen rabbit. 

Songhezhai, Lizhengmen Dajie. 
Cheap, local food, with good dumplings. 

Taoyuan, Lizhengmen Dajie. 
The decor of this large modern hall isn't inspiring, but the food is simple and inexpensive. 

Xinhua, Xinhua Bei lu.
The restaurant of the Xinhua hotel has a good reputation for shandong cooking, particularly pheasant and hare dishes. 

Yueminglou, Lizhengmen Dajie.
Local food, with expensive game dishes a speciality. 

Jiuyuan Mansion, #22 Wulie Road. 
Jiuyuan chicken with hot pepper, Jiuyuan sausage, chicken prolonging life, flat sweet stewed beef, grilled venison in brown sauce.
