This hall was the emperors' bed chamber and stands with its back against the river on high ground. Visitors will feel pleasantly cool and comfortable when wafted gently by refreshing breezes.The right is the Dongnuange (East Chamber of Warmth) where the empresses watched performances or rested.


                                

The Xinuange (West Chamber of Warmth) of the Hall of Refreshing Mists and Waves. It is here that Emperor Xianfeng signed the Convention of Beijing, a treaty of national betrayal and humiliation, in 1860. The table is historic evidence of this humiliation. Below is the imperial bed chamber.
