In some parts of the lakes of the Summer Mountain Resort grows Lotus, called Ao Han Lotus, which the king of Lotus' flowers are small and can last a longer time to the deep autumn, used to in cold weather. Emperor Kangxi often enjoy the Lotus here, hence the pavilion is also called Lotus-watching Pavilion.
