The second 'Pan Pearl River Delta Cooperation and Development Forum' will be held in July in Chengdu, a city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to local sources.
Liu Peizhi, vice mayor of the city, said that hosting the forumwill become a milestone for the China's regional cooperation.
The PPRD region, which is also known as '9+2', involves Fujian, Jiangxi Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan as well as the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
With one-fifth of the country's total area, one-third of the total population, and one-third of the total economic strength, the region has been considered one the most important regional combination in China.
The first such forum was held June 2004. It was opened in Hong Kong, then moved to Macao and was closed in Guangzhou, a city of south China's Guangdong Province.
