Acupuncture, which has been around for more than 4000 years, is regularly used in China to treat all sorts of diseases. It has been approved by the WHO, and is now practised in many countries. Don't let the long needles put you off, though do check that needles used are sterile. At least there are no side effects, as there are with so many medical drugs.
