Quanzhou's puppet heads.

Puppet Heads The initiator of this craft is believed to be a man named Jiang Jinbang, a late Qing-dynasty craftsman from Quanzhou who was skilled at carving Buddha figures. In his time he was able to produce 136 different kinds of wooden puppet heads. His son Jiang Jiazou learned his father's skills, and himself became a master puppet-maker, specializing in carving wooden heads. He developed 280 different puppet characters with movable mouths and eyes. In Quanzhou a factory has been set up especially to manufacture carved puppet heads, in order to keep alive this traditional craft.
