Lacquer Bowls Lacquer bowls from Fujian's Xianyou County are especially popular with people in Japan and Southeast Asia, who use them either as tableware or as sacrificial objects for worship.
Xianyou's lacquer bowls are exquisitely made with elegant designs. They have the added advantages of being without odour or noxious substances, and the laquer will never peel off. The bowls are insulating and are also alkali and acid resistant. Under ten centimetres high and about one centimetre thick, they are less cumbersome than gold and less fragile than glass. Over 20 varieties are available.
