Golden Hill Temple (Jin Shan Si) in the
city's western suburb, nicknamed "The Floating Temple" because
it stands on a reef in the River Min. Built in the period
of the Song Dynasty, the temple is given fresh attraction
after repairs were made in recent years. Surrounded by green
waves that are dotted with fishing boats, the monastery is
shaded by palm trees that grow on the shoals. Special idyllic
pleasure can be had either by a look-around in the temple
or angling at the riverside and listening to the occasional
rings of fishermen's songs.
