  Man-made Waterfall Makes Guinness Record

A man-made waterfall in Guilin, one of the most popular tourist resorts in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was recently listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for its size.

The Guinness record was recently confirmed by the Shanghai Office of the Guinness Book of World Records.

The waterfall is 72 meters wide and 45 meters high. It flows from top of the Lijiang-waterfall Hotel to a pool on the ground below and spills 2,560 cubic meters of water per hour.

Construction of the waterfall was started in March 2001 and was completed in April 2002. The watery display is situated on the southern side of the Guilin central square with the Li River and the Elephant Trunk Mountain on either side. It is becoming a popular tourist attraction in Guilin.
