| Located by the Wangfeng River, 17 kilometres
north of Leishan, Shangzhai was where the Miao ethnic peasants fought
against the government during the reign of Qing emperors Xianfeng
and Tongzhi (1855- 1872). A village museum displays various kinds
of weapons and cultural objects. The Miao village at Langde is built
in a traditional way, with houses projecting over the water, cobbled
or black stone paths, and a magnificent village gate entrance. |
