The Ruins of the Ancient New City in the Three-Kingdoms Period

Located in the western suburbs of present Hefei, the ancient new city of three-kingdoms Period was built in A.D.233 by Man Chong, a general of the Wei Kingdom to resist the forces of the Wu Kingdom.

The ruins occupy an area of approximately 100,000 square meters, with the remaining rectangular loam city wall connecting eighteen large-scale crenels. The inside of the city was scattered with relics like the debris left from the Han Dynasty, ironed rams and metal arrowheads.

The city is environed with a moat about 50 meters wide. After the Western Jin Dynasty, the city was abandoned. Now it is well preserved as a key unit of historical relics under provincial protection.
