Located about 300m from the Tsuen Wan MTR station, the Sam Tung UK Museum occupies a landscaped and slightly over-restored walled village dating from 1786. It consists of a number of individual village houses, each decorated in period style and designed to illustrate a particular aspect of traditional village life, including furniture-making, farming, festivals, handicrafts and ritual ceremonies.
You might also visit Chuk Lam Shim Yuen ('Bamboo Forest Monastery'), one of Hong Kong's most impressive Buddhist monasteries. Founded in 1927, it has three of the city's largest statues of Lord Buddha and draws hundreds of daily worshippers. The monastery lies just 20 minutes' walk or a short taxi ride from Tsuen Wan MTR station.
