|
The Long (Tsang
Haizi ) Lake, 4.5km in length, is the largest lake with
the highest elevation above sea-level in Jiuzhaigou Valley.
In winter the ice on the lake surfaces 60mm in thickness. And
its one-man cypress, with its uniquely natural form, has become
the symbol of the Jiuzhaigou Valley landscapes. The legend goes
that old man JiSang lost his left arm in fighting with the black
dragon and finally subdued the dragon. In the end the old man
changed himself into a cypress to guard the The Long Lake. |
| It is a
typical barrier lake as a result of moraine. In the upper valley,
there are some aged and diminishing lakes such as the Fairy
Pool, Baihua Haizi and Gan Haizi etc. At the upper end, there
are mountainous region formed by ancient glaciers. At its lower
end, there are a number of rolling lateral moraine and terminal
moraine as blockage. |
