The Rebuilding Fund, in addition to the
donation made by disciples helped to rebuild the Grand Sutra Lecturing
Hall in its original shape and scale. The monastery management committee
with 8 members was set up and the Tulku, 31st Shibenkagasangrenjing
became the abbot and the director of the committee. The government
carried out the policy of self-support and included it as a tourist
attraction into the overall development of |
the Jiuzhaigou
Scenic Spot. The monastery’s income mainly derives from tickets
and donations made by disciples and tourists. The monastery has been
improved gradually and has become large scaled again. Currently, its
site area has reached 14,510 square meters and floor area 3,060 square
meters. There are one tulku and 61 monks among whom 58 went to Tibet
to learn Buddhism. Every year, four Buddhist rituals will be held
in the monastery. The timetable is illustrated as follows:
3-6,January in lunar calendar (February in Gregorian Calendar);
7-16, April in lunar calendar (May in Gregorian Calendar);
14-16 May in lunar calendar (June in Gregorian Calendar);
27-29 September in lunar calendar (October in Gregorian Calendar).
In 1995, the People’s government of Nanping County (now renamed
as Jiuzhaigou County) decided to include Zaru monastery as the county
level cultural relics protection unit.
