| Characteristics
of Tibetan Religion in Jiuzhaigou |
There are nine Tibetan monasteries belonging to two different schools:
the Gelug and the Bön. Dalu Monastery, Batun Monastery, Xiangzha
Monastery and Yuwa Monastery in Yu Wagou belong to the Gelug; Dongbei
Monastery, Zhima Monastery and Shawu Monastery in Yu Wagou, Taji Monastery
in Ta Zang and Zharu Monastery in Jiuzhaigou belong to the Bön.

The Bön and the Gelug are two main schools in Tibetan
religion. In Jiuzhaigou, local Tibetans call the Bön as Bönpo
and the Gelug as Bande. There is no significant difference between
these two schools. Nor do they have main disagreement on philosophical
theories. However, there are some differences between them on detailed
rules, which are illustrated as follows:
