Tibetan paintings mainly include Tibetan Buddhism’s Thangka
Painting, fresco and construction decoration paintings etc. Thangka
painting and fresco have pre-defined format and decorum in accordance
with classic regulations and cannot be drawn at painters’
pleasure. Both of them have rich composition, bright but calm color
and lively and fluent lines. Some delicate strokes are outlined
with golden lines to produce a feeling of grace and nobleness. All
construction decoration paintings share the same motif of Auspicious
Pattern with Eight symbols. These are Holy Umbrella, Champion Pillar,
Golden Dharma Wheel, Pisces, Aquarius, White Trumpet Shell, Auspicious
Flower and Auspicious Bond. Beside the motif, there are some other
patterns as well.
