Haigeng Park is located on a promontory on the northern bank of Dianchi Lake, about 8 kilometers from center of Kunming city. It extends from east to west like a belt of green jade, dividing the lake into two parts -the deeper part in the south called Dianchi and the shallower part called Caohai. 

Haigeng Park is mainly a natural scenic spot and a lakeside-bathing beach with green willows, sky-piercing eucalyptuses, and blooming flowers. The park and the nearby fishing villages merge harmoniously into one. People can enjoy the enchanting beauty of nature, go swimming in summer, and go angling in the four seasons.

Haigeng is composed of four sections, a stadium for training in the east, a sandy beach for swimming in the central part, a scenic area in the west, and a long stretch of land for sanatoria and hotels in the north. The gate of the park is located in the central part. 

In the stadium, there are five grass-covered football fields as well as swimming pools, training halls, meeting halls and halls for matches. Every winter athletes from all over China gather here for winter training. 

The Birds Park inside the Haigeng Park has a huge bird net of 8,000 square meters. It has such facilities as the Fowl World, the Peacock Park, the Parrot Corridor, the Peacock Performance Yard, the Swan Lake and the Mandarin Duck Brook. The facilities were built in the light of habits and characteristics of different bird species and landform of the park. The park serves as a window to display the advantage of Yunnan as the 'kingdom of plants and animals.'
