  More Ancient Tea Road Discovered

Some more part of Chama gudao (ancient tea road) was recently discovered at the southern tip of the existing Yunnan-Tibet tea road at Yiwu county, in Xishuangbanna of Yunnan province. The road extends to several hundred meters.

Yiwu County governor Zhang Yi told reporters that the tea road in their county, first built in 1845, were either destroyed in history, or replaced by newly built roads, or hid amid forests. In recent years, some parts are discovered one after another with the most complete part extending five kilometers from Mangong village to Luosuojiang River.

In ancient time, the tea road in Yiwu transported tea leaves from mountains to nearby towns. At one time, 70 percent of the tea leaves produced in mountains were distributed in Yiwu tea road.
