 Laojun
Mountains One of the three main peaks of the Funiu Mountains,
also called Jingshi Mountains, it is located at the place 160 kilometers
away from the southwest of Luoyang, altitude of 2,192 meters. Tradition
has it that Taoism founder Lao Zi once retired from official life
here such that it was called Laojun Mountains. Built during the Northern
Wei dynasty was Laojun Temple with iron rafters and tiles, magnificent
and splendid, respected as the Taoist holy site through the Tang,
Song, Ming and Qing Dynasties. |
