Beijing Prepares Olympic Tourism
Beijing has decided to make 2005 as an official pre-Olympic travel year in preparation for 2008.
The theme of the activity centers around Chinese culture, and a number of scenic spots -- including part of Zhongnanhai which has since 1949 been home to the Communist Party's most powerful members -- will be opened to the public.
In the meantime, the capital will do what it can to boost tourism by setting up a more convenient visa policy system and start a promotion campaign this coming April.
It's estimated that about 800,000 people will visit Beijing in 2008, more than one forth of them for the Olympic Games.
