Situated at 849 Huashan Road, the private residence of Li Hongzhang called Clove Garden is an English styled construction of brick-and- wood structure. It was constructed by Li Hongzhang, a minister and once a commissioner to Jiangsu province in the late Qing Dynasty who advocated Westernization movement, for his concubine named Clove. It is a traditional Chinese garden built in European style, with winding dragon walls and glazed roof. The garden has very distinct features.
