Located on Wanrong Road near Daning Park, the Shanghai Dairy Museum opened to the public on December 11, 2004.
The museum is the first dairy museum in Shanghai. It hosts various old artifacts that were once used in the dairy industry and also provides interesting interactive games for young visitors.
With the total exhibition of more than 1,000 square meters, the museum consists of three parts that chronologically display the development of China's dairy industry through ancient, contemporary and modern times.
The most important exhibit in the museum is an award certificate with the autograph of the country's first Premier Zhou Enlai to recognize the excellent performance of a local state-run dairy company in 1953.
Visitors to the museum can watch a simplified demonstration of how milk is produced. They can also learn what particular kind of milk - such as low fat or yogurt - is best suited for their health.
