The East Tomb is located 11km (7 miles) northeast of Shenyang and was built for Nurachi who is considered to be one of the Manchu founders of the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). Nurachi succeeded in uniting different ethnic groups in northeast China and was the father of Abhai (Huangtaiji) who is buried at the North Tomb.
