Introduction

Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province, is one of China's famous industrial cities, covering an area of 13,007 square kilometers and with a population of 6.73 million. It consists of Heping District, Shenhe District, Dadong District, Huanggu District, Sujiatun District and Xinchengzi District; Xinmin city at county level, Liaozhong County, Kangping County and Faku County.

The alluvial plain of Liao River in the west is its major topography, while its north-east and south-east parts are low hilly land. Full seasons of a year, the highest temperature is about 35.2 degrees, and its lowest one is 24.9 degrees below zero. The average temperature is 8.6 degrees, rainfall of 734 millimeters, and a frost-free period of 159 days. It has long winter; and it gets warms soon in spring, full sunlight; hot and rainy in summer; short, clear and cool in autumn. The golden time of year is from April to October.
Being one of China's main industrial centers, Shenyang abounds in coal, petroleum, iron, and natural gas resources, in addition to limestone, marble and pearlite. It has built up an all-inclusive comprehensive industrial system comprising machine-building as chief branch, metallurgy, light industry and textiles, building materials, electronics, foodstuff etc. Its major agricultural crops are corn, sorghum, soybean, wheat, rice, cotton, tobacco and peanut.
Shenyang is the large concentration and distribution center for goods and materials in North-East China, and key communication hub of railways as well as road transport center in Liaoning Province. The whole length of roads in the city is up to 5230 kilometers, in which the freeway is about 23 6 kilometers. It has the biggest civil airport on North-East China, providing regular air service to over 40 cities at home and abroad.
