Throughout history, Shenyang was successively governed by Han and Hui and Manchu. This blend of cultures also influenced the local food. Mouthwatering Laobian Dumplings ( Jiaozi ) at the Laobian Eating House (on Zhong Jie , close to the Imperial Palace) and the traditional Laoshanji-Haicheng pies ( Xianbing ) are the most famous local dishes. Close to the border with North Korea, Shenyang cuisine has included numerous Korean dishes: Barbecued beef, cold noodles and kimchi are served at the Meiahli Korean BBQ on Kunming Bei Jie off Zhongshan Lu with reasonable prices. |
