  Longyan Ancient Temple

Longyan Ancient Temple, located in the north of Longshi Mountain to the south of Wangmuyu, is about one kilometer from Dapeng Town.

It is named Longyan Ancient Temple owing to its being constructed directly under Longyan huge rocks. In addition, this temple is only worshipping the Buddhism, so it is also called Buddhism Temple. Longshi Mountain is also called Buddhism Mountain for this temple was built there. According to the inscription on a tablet, this temple was built in the Qing Dynasty (in 1862), and renewed in 1908.

The foundation, walls and steps of Longyan Ancient Temple are all made of long granites, thus very rigid. There are nearly ten square columns of granites engraved elegantly in the temple, simple and elegant. If you watch the whole appearance of the temple, red girders, blue eaves, yellow tiles, grand, serious, brilliant; the backbones rising up are like dragons which are to fly.

Longyan Ancient Temple has the structure of three entrances, three rooms and two courtyards, and is constructed on the terrain of natural slope. In front of the hall there is a spring with unchanged water level, sweet and cool, called 'fairy water' by the local people. On the front door of the temple, there is a granite board inscribed with four Chinese characters 'Long Yan Gu Si', meaning Longyan Ancient Temple in English. The temple is hidden in the shadow of trees and flowers, very tranquil, unique and natural in construction on hill and behind rocks.
