Temple fairs

**A temple fair is being held in Nanshan District to usher in the Chinese Lunar New Year. Activities include acrobatic shows, flower market. The temple fair will end on Feb. 23.

**In Futian District, a temple fair will be also held at the Shenzhen Children's Palace between Feb. 6 and Feb. 15 as part of Spring Festival celebrations.

During the fair, traditional and rare crafts will be on display such as a peep show, sugar dolls, Sichuan opera rapid face changes, a puppet show from the Tang Dynasty (618-907), clay and wood figure modeling, and acrobatics. Visitors can learn crafts for free at the fair, and make their own block-print New Year pictures, clay figures, kites and puppets.

**On Feb. 10, Shenzhen will see world famous DJs stir up the passion of party goers. Join the party to rave with American Christopher Lawrence, British Chris Coco and French Alex Da, all top DJs.

Paintings

The Shenzhen Art Museum will unveil a painting exhibition showcasing artworks by Shi Hu, a prestigious painting artist. Paintings on display include works the master has created since the 1980s.
Shi Hu, emerged as a representative figure among innovative artists of the 1980s. His works are internationally popular and sold at high prices.
Shi Hu is a master of ink painting, oil painting, calligraphy and poetry. Based on Chinese culture, he integrates Chinese painting with Western painting, therefore forging his own path toward art.

Ceramics exhibits

About 100 pieces of pottery and porcelain by artists from Shiwan Township, Foshan City, are on display at the Shenzehn Museum until March 6. These art pieces include human figures, animals, miniature landscapes, and gardening gadgets. Shiwan in Guangdong Province has been famed for producing ceramics since the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Contemporary Russian art

A rich collection of contemporary Russian oil paintings and sketches are on display at Guan Shanyue Art Museum until Feb. 27.
There are 200 oil paintings and 109 sketches by alumni, teachers and students from the prestigious Repin Arts Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.

An exhibition of some 100 paintings and calligraphy works by more than 50 iconic artists from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties are on display at the Shenzhen Museum until Feb.24.
