  Zhongyingjie Travel permit center opens

Travelers would find it easier to visit Zhongying Street in Shatoujiao Subdistrict in Yantian after a new travel permit service center was opened in Shatoujiao on Tuesday, the Daily Sunshine reported.

The new travel permit service center is located on the first floor of a building in Hanhaicuiting housing estate in Shatoujiao in Yantian District and is the only place to get permit for admission into Zhongying Street.

Travelers can get their permits in the center for 10 yuan (US$1.2) per person.

The service center opens from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Sunday.

Zhongying Street, which borders Shenzhen and Hong Kong, was founded in 1899. At that time, half of the street, which belonged to Hong Kong, was under British rule before it was returned to China in 1997, and the other side was managed by the Chinese mainland. The street earned the name Zhongying Street, or Chinese-English Street.

In the past, some illegal travel agents sold the travel permits to travelers at the entrance of the street, and asked for 100 to 700 yuan for each permit.
