  Revolutionary Martyr's Museum

Revolutionary Martyr's Museum The Martyrs' Memorial is a somber park with over 700 graves and memorials dedicated to the heroes of the Chinese revolution. Most of those buried here fought in the army during the anti-Japan, civil and Korean wars.

Two foreigners are given special honor and are celebrated in a small museum within the park. In the west side of the park there is a memorial to Norman Bethune (1890-1939), an idealistic Canadian doctor, who came to China fight with the Communists against the Japanese. He became a close comrade of Mao and is eulogized in 'Mao Zedong Thought' with the words, 'We must all learn the spirit of absolute selflessness from Dr Bethune'.

The east side of the park is dedicated to Dwarkanath Kotnis (1900-1942), an Indian doctor who spent the last 10 years of his life in China working with the Communist Party.
