Located in the town area of Jixian County, the temple was first built in 636 AD in the Tang Dynasty, and renovated in 984 AD in the Liao Dynasty.
The Guanyin Hall in the temple is the oldest wooden pavilion existing in China. Standing in the center of the Guanyin Hall, the 16-meter-high statue of Guanyin that carved in the Liao dynasty, with one big head and 10 small heads, so-called the 11-faces Guanyin statue, is the largest terracotta figure of its kind in China.
Besides, the temple also houses a Buddha from the Liao Dynasty and various murals from the Ming Dynasty.
