Located beside the Haihe river on Tianwei Road, the Grand Mercy Buddhist Temple is one of the biggest and best preserved Buddhism Zen sect Temples in northern China.

The temple comprises of two parts, the old temple in the west courtyard and the new temple in the east courtyard. The original structure was built in 1669 during the Qing Dynasty, and the new wing of the temple was added to the old temple in 1940. Much of the temple buildings were restored after the Tangshan earthquake in 1976.

The temple is famous for the gold-gilded Sykiamuni statue and a series of Buddhist carvings.
