Dongli Lake in Dongli District on the outskirts of Tianjin is 24 kilometres from the city centre, 30 kilometres from the harbour, 12.5 kilometres from the airport and 7.5 kilometres from the International Golf Club, and can be approached from any of the city highways.
The holiday resort is 22.01 square kilometres in area, including 14.01 square kilometres of land and eight square kilometres of water.
Dongli Lake is fondly called 'the little fresh-water ocean'. The lake boasts of silk fish, turtles, crabs and shrimps. Every year, as many as 100,000 birds come to procreate offspring on the shore of the lake. As the area is the head of a terrestrial heat belt in North China, there are many hot water wells with water as hot as 97c.
