  Xingfu Temple Pagoda

The Xingfu Temple Pagoda is located west of Baotong Temple on Mount Hong, Wuhan.

At noon on the summer solstice the pagoda is said to have no shadow, therefore it is also called the Shadowless Pagoda. As it is smaller than Lingji Pagoda nearby, it is also called the Small Pagoda

With a history of more than seven hundred years, it is one of the oldest buildings in Wuhan.

The pagoda was built in 1270 in the Southern Song Dynasty and it still bears inscriptions dating from the Song Dynasty. It is a solid stone structure modeled after multistoreyed wooden pagodas. The octagonal pagoda is 11.25 meters high. Its stone Sumeru pedestal has a diameter of 4.25 meters. False doors on four sides are carved with images of Buddha, bodhisattvas, heavenly kings and celestial guards. The carvings show excellent workmanship and the images are vivid, making them invaluable stone carvings.
