  Guqintai (the Ancient Zither Platform)

Guqintai (the Ancient Zither Platform) is located on the bank of Moon Lake, at the western foot of Guishan (Tortoise Hill) in Hanyang district.

It was the haunt of legendary strummer Yu Boya, a musician in Chu kingdom during the Spring and Autumn Period (770 - 476 B.C.). He is said to have played over the grave of his friend Zhong Ziqi and then smashed his instrument because the only one person able to appreciate his music was dead. There is a bright pavilion in his honor.

The original site of the platform was built in the Northern Song dynasty (960-1127), after several destructions and rebuilding, the present one was constructed in 1957.
