Water
Curtain Cave is the largest cave on Wuyi Mountain.
|
The largest scenic area on Wuyi Mountain,
this region is located north of the Tianxin (Heavenly Heart)
Scenic Area and covers 1,700 hectares. Major spots of interest
include Water Curtain Cave, Green Lion Rock, Mituo Rock, Clear
Source Rock, Lianhua (Lotus) Peak, Official Liu's Castle and
Green Rock.
Shuilian (Water Cunain) Cave The largest cave at Wuyi
Mountain, this is over 100 metres both in height and width.
Two springs bring water from a height of over 100 metres to
the entrance of the cave throughout the year. The cave houses
a large collection of rock carvings, altars dedicated to three
outstanding scholars of the Song Dynasty and statues of Confucius,
Lao Zi and Sakyamuni Buddha.
Longfeng (Dragon Peak) This is a huge mountain north
of Shuilian Cave. A gigantic rock here tilts upward looking
a bit like a dragon's tongue. Next to it is a rock resembling
the head of a dragon, which leads one along the stone path on
the dragon's "back" and right to the end of the tail. Several
kilometres west of this peak is Green Rock, a mountain peak
that features a temple and some ruins of old houses. Shuixian
tea plants cover the mountain slopes. |
| Qingshi(Green Lion) Rock North
of Shuilian Cave, this rock is in the shape of a crouching lion.
Nearby is Nine Dragon Rock, at whose foot is the mysterious
Nine Star Spring. |
