  The Daxingshan Temple

Founded in the period 265-289 A.D. (between Taishi and Taikong of Jin Emperor Wudi Sima Yan), the Temple is situated outside the southern gate of Xian City.

The Indian monks Na Lian Qi Li Ye She, Zhe Na Jue Duo and Da Me Ji Duo translate Buddhist scriptures and passed on the teachings of the Buddhist 'Mizong' sect here after they came to Chang'an at different times.

During the period 716-720 A.D. (fourth to eighth years of Daiyuan of the Tang Emperor Xuanzong Li Long ji), the Indian monks Sanzang Shan Wuwei, Jinganzhi and Bucking ' the three great starters', and others as well, taught the theories of the Buddhist Mizong sect here.

As a result, this temple became the birthplace of China's Mizong sect and one of the three translation sites for Buddhist scriptures in Chang'an city during the Sui and Tang dynasties.
