There are more than ten kinds of local operas in Xian, for examples 'Qin-qiang', 'Wanwanqiang', 'Mihu', 'Tongzhou Bangzi'. Of all these, Qinqiang is the most popular and has the greatest influence. 

All the operas have the common characteristic that their melodies are impassioned, sonorous and forceful and are warmly welcomed by the broad masses of the people.
