Zigui, a county in western Yichang City, is famous for its folk instrumental music 'Zigui gong and drum', which is a traditional ensemble of percussion instruments performances prevailing among the local people. 

The music takes distinguishing playing patterns on different occasions. 'Xishiluogu' (jolly music) is performed with drums in the occasion of celebrations, feasts and welcome ceremonies to heighten the joyous atmosphere. 'Haocaoluogu' is a labor working rhythm in which drums and gongs are played together. The third type, 'Baishiluogu' (funeral music), appears only on funerals as the background music of the obsequial dancing and marching. 

Zigui gong and drum music is regarded as 'the gem of the profound Chinese folk culture'.
